About Me

What?! You’re reading the blog of a complete stranger? What if she’s completely evil or something?

Take a deep breath, because now, I, Mareeyah, will no longer be a complete 900% stranger to you after I tell you bits about myself. After all, isn’t it always lovely to read a little background about the author of what you are reading, whether it’s a best-selling novel, a children’s book, or simply a blog? My answer would be yes.

So, who am I?

First of all, I am a normal human being and I am not evil… well, maybe, sometimes I am, a little bit. Nobody’s completely angelic anyway, so there. I have been born of goodly parents, who are still madly in love with each other after more than four decades. Aw! Isn’t that inspiring?

The first thing I have ever sewn on the machine was my finger. Oops! I was two, of course, I did not do it on purpose. I was probably just a curious little girl who wondered about actually operating the sewing machine, as I had seen my grandmother do almost everyday back then. Yeah, the sewing machine was her best friend, so I suppose, sewing is also in my genes, if that’s possible. Of course, it was many years after that freaky incident that I finally learned how to hand sew and to operate both the manual and the electric sewing machines.

Ever since I can remember, I love arts and crafts. I was six when I earned my first “Best In Art” ribbon in Prep school. When I was in high school, I announced that I wanted to be a fashion designer. But there was no school offering such courses in my hometown, so after suffering a boring year studying Accountancy, I exchanged my little supply of columnar pads for gigantic tracing papers and illustration boards, and my small collection of nail polishes for watercolors, pastels, Staedler inks and latex paints. Yeah, I went to the high and mighty Architecture school, baby! And how I had a blast!

Just a couple of months before I completed all the ultra-challenging requirements of the five-year Architecture course, I met a gorgeous hunk who was just as naturally artistic as (or even more than) me. A few years later, we decided to get married and had a wedding celebration made inexpensive, because of all the crafty projects we did, and unique (according to our guests), because we dared to be different, sky’s the limit.

I started this blog when I was planning our wedding, so you might notice that the earliest posts are mostly about weddings. After I became a Mrs., I sort of got bored of writing only about weddings, so I decided to let this blog go with the flow of my life. That’s why I now blog mostly about stuff I do as a newlywed, such as trying to be thrifty in preparing to build our little home, and crafty projects I’m hoping to sell in fairs. Hopefully, craft fair experiences would help me start a little business I can continue when I later shift from being a full-time employee to being a stay-at-home wife/mom.

What do I expect my future to be? Simple. I just want to be a billionaire and bring to pass much goodness in this world.

Aaahh! If ever I do become a billionaire just from selling in craft fairs, I’d be a super-ginormous world wide news! LOL!!!

Oh yeah, and I’m currently residing in the land of kangaroos, Vegemite, and crazy weather… Melbourne, Australia.
